Today marks a very special moment, Among the Innocent: A Stricken Tale has been released. This is the end of 15 months of development work, art production, bug-fixing, technical frustrations, deployment woes, and more passion than I’ve ever poured into a project. Before I get onto other details, here’s what you need to know about getting the game…
Initial release will be Windows 64-bit only, followed by Mac 64-bit and Windows 32-bit. The Linux release will follow in due time, but is not an immediate priority. Linux users, if you’d like to help me test the game, please get in touch through the Contact Us page! The game costs $9.99 ($8.99 for the next week!) and can be purchased online through the Humble Bundle widget below or on the main page (www.stricken-game.com). I’ll soon be listing on itch.io as well. Steam Greenlight will start up in the next week or so, as I simply haven’t had the hours needed to manage a proper Greenlight campaign.
There’s also a very limited edition boxed version, DRM-free. Both the boxed and Humble version will include a way to receive updates without the need for standalone patches or anything else too troublesome. The Humble version is set to automatically look for updates on starting. The boxed version has a “check for updates” entry in the Start Menu. I’ll be selling the boxed version at rAge Expo this weekend (7, 8, 9 October) at the Zero Degrees Games booth (HC3&4), which can be found at the home_coded megabooth. The game will also be demoed during the show, so if you’re in Jo’burg, please come through, check it out, and say hi! Should I have extra copies of the game after the show, I’ll make a plan to sell them online.
I’ve updated the demo on the main site, currently only for Windows 64-bit, which takes over from the long-outdated alpha demo I’ve had for some time. The demo now truly shows the quality of the final game, and I’m very proud of it.
This culmination of 15 months of work wouldn’t have resulted in the product that it did without the help of a few key people. Richard Braum, Duncan Bell, Orla Hunter, Bevan Wall, Rhys Ap Gwyn, and a number of others have contributed their time, creativity, positive energy, and (most importantly) eternal patience and I am infinitely grateful to them all. Thank you, sincerely.
So what’s next for me and Zero Degrees Games? After a short and much-needed break, I’ll focus on marketing, polishing, and online distribution of Among the Innocent for the next few months. While that’s ticking away, pre-production for the next Stricken Tale will begin. I don’t want to spoil or promise too much, suffice to say that I have grand plans for the next game, many of which will require resources and time to achieve. Whatever sales Among the Innocent does will go towards the next game. By supporting us now, you’re supporting us for the future as well!
That’s it for now. I’ll leave you with this lovely new trailer for Among the Innocent. We’ll chat soon!
